If you’ve been reading Inhabitat, you may know that we’ve got a tough task that we really need your help with – choosing the winner of our Green Halloween Costume Contest! The finalists are all insanely creative DIY eco costumes from the floating house from the movie “UP” to a lifesize Bender from Futurama to a real Chia pet to these awesome yellow Lego pirates, so voice your choice about who you think the winner should be (and get some inspiration for next year)!

Halloween has come and gone and you might have already plowed through all of your collected treats, but luckily we’ve got some eye candy for you to feast on – the fabulous finalists from our Green Halloween Costume Contest! We were totally impressed (and in some cases terrified) by the flood of creative costumes we received and we’ve narrow them down to a select few that really showed what DIY eco costume making is all about. Now it’s up to you to choose the lucky winners who will receive a sweet FEED Halloween bag filled with Yummy Earth Lollipops, a $100 gift certificate to the Inhabitatshop, and our fabulous Inhabitat t-shirts and tote bags!

INHABITAT GREEN HALLOWEEN PHOTO CONTEST!!!

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays of the year, and one of the best parts of Halloween is seeing people get creative and resourceful with their costumes. Anyone can buy a plastic / spandex costume at a drugstore, but not only is that boring and generic — it is the opposite of environmentally friendly. We encourage you all to get inspired and resourceful this year and go green with your Halloween costumes! This could mean cobbling together a great DIY idea from items you already have around your house, or picking up some old items at the local charity shop to create your costume (as demonstrated by Managing Editor Emily as Eskimo Pi (3.14159…) and her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle/Sister).
