In 2009 he created his first prototype for a wearable LED television, and he just unveiled the final design! Scaled down from his initial 50-pound model, the finished version weighs only eight pounds and boasts a 160-by-120-pixel display.

Your future iPod or laptop will soon bear the words “Conflict Free,” thanks to the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, signed by President Obama last week.  Apple and Intel have joined up with the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition’s Conflict-Free Smelter program to support the law. In short, the legislation does not ban the purchase of minerals from the war-torn Congo, but will require electronics companies who do so to declare it clearly on their audits (included in their yearly financial reports) while allowing those who don’t to stamp the moniker “conflict free” on their packaging.

We’ve seen some absurd iApps and even a few crazy accessories, but this iPhone and iPod docking station by Portugal-based KMKG Studio just may take the cake. The docking station, aptly dubbed the ‘iTree’, is made from an entire tree that has been hollowed out to create a suspended HiFi sound system. Although the unique design caught our eye, in the end we really couldn’t get over the blatant waste of material to build a tech product that, these days, generally has a shelf life of a couple years at most. And while we wish we could say that the system has been built from fallen or recycled trees, sadly each tree station is a ready-made piece and individuals can place a custom order specifying the type of wood and length they desire. Green fail.

Publishing giant Condé Nast - meet tech bohemoth Apple. Condé Nast is set to announce today in an internal memorandum that it will start testing out iPad versions of five of its most popular magazines. If all goes well, readers will be able to read Wired, GQ, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and Glamour on an iPad by this summer.
