This hybrid lighting design by David Markus utilizes two methods of power. During the day, light is brought into the room through a parabolic lens on the roof. At night, the lamp provides light from a set of low-power LED’s beneath the shade. By using the sun to power the device, the lamp to consumes little to no energy from the grid.

Electric superbikes enable bikers to travel the roads knowing they are both cool and environmentally friendly. While prototypes have been developed to break speed records, there still isn’t a commercial version available for the average consumer. However CRP Racing have unveiled a prototype e-superbike at the EICMA motorcycle show in Italy that could be hitting the roads in the near future.

Everyone has been eagerly awaiting the moment OLED technology will make its way into the mainstream, and we’re happy to report that the solid beginnings of this movement are finally starting to show. WAC Lighting has designed the SOL chandelier, an OLED based masterpiece that serves as a precedent for new design concepts for OLED lighting fixtures. Created in WAC Lighting’s zero-landfill manufacturing facility, this chandelier uses OLED technology that is based off of OSRAM’s latest ORBEOS OLED panels. The design moves away from reflector based LED’s and adds an additional 10-40% efficiency to lamps.

Lighting Science Group and Dixon Technologies India have unveiled the world’s first 60-watt equivalent LED lightbulb for under $15! We all know how much electricity LED bulbs save, but up until now, cost has been a major deterrent to people buying them. With their new, cost-effective product, LSG and Dixon hope to change all of that. The cheaper bulb will be available in India by the end of the year and will hit the rest of the world markets early next year.
