West Elm home furnishing recently made its debut in the UAE by opening their first retail store in The Dubai Mall. The new store features a diverse mix of modern home designs and inspirational pieces. GSky Plant Systems, Inc. helped bring a touch of nature to the store by installing two large green walls. The beautiful living walls are situated behind the cash wrap, serving as the store’s centerpiece to greet customers as they enter the store.

Israeli design firm Golany Architects recently unveiled plans for the new Centre for Higher Education in Ashdod, the fifth-largest city in Israel. The design of the building is based on colonnades with columns that support the growth of vines, referencing the Mediterranean region’s long tradition of using vine-covered pergolas to escape the heat. The building is enveloped with green walls, which serve the dual function of beautifying the building and making it more heat resistant. The site is surrounded by dense city fabric, and the green wall serves to distinguish it from its immediate urban environment.

Spain-based Terapia Urbana is passionate about bringing nature indoors through gorgeous living wall installations. They recently installed one of their Slimgreenwall systems in the new office of the Ayesa Advanced Technologies Group, which one of the largest engineering and technology consultant firms in the country. Working with the talented architect Lourdes Zarza, Terapia Urbana developed a natural canvas that spans 6 meters long by .9 meters high. This living wall installation is located in the boardroom of the Olympic Stadium of La Cartuja in Seville, where it helps people relax!
