Marta Crass created this incredibly realistic cardboard camera without the use of any precision machining tools (like laser cutters or plotters). Measuring 6.5” x 4.5”, the replica camera is modeled after a 1960s-era Nikon camera given to Crass by her grandfather. Although it doesn’t take pictures, the beautifully crafted camera showcases the potential of recycled cardboard – and it can be yours for $150.

The recycled material has proven to be water and fireproof, which makes it ideal for springtime barbecues.

NY/ Turin-based architect Caterina Tiazzoldi teamed up with NY/ Lisbon-based architect Eduardo Benamor Duarte to create Onion Pinch – a playful eco art installation made entirely from sustainably-sourced cork. Onion Pinch was initially designed as a rest area for the Cais do Sodre subway station in Lisbon during the Experimenta Design Biennial. The swaying onion-shaped structures invited visitors to climb, lay, or rock within them. In 2010 the installation was the set for a dance performance by Arke Danza, which was documented in a film directed by Caterina Tiazzoldi shown at the Architecture & Design Film Festival, and this year photographic documentation of the installation will be showcased at the RISD Biennial beginning on February 21st.

Designed by Plankton, the Lock dinner table is designed and formed to take advantage of the qualities, possibilities and characteristics of its highly sustainable material: bamboo. The frame is built up using layers of flexible bamboo, which are pressed together and then twisted and weaved through each other locking into place. The end result is a mix of nature and mathematics, and a super strong and dynamic shape. The table seats 5 to 6 people.

OYD Design‘s FL Inout Chair is a flatpack lounge chair designed to offer comfort, ease of use and aesthetics while minimizing material use. The chair is made from polyester web and it features a wood plastic composite frame made from 40% recycled wood waste and 60% recycled polypropylene. The wood plastic composite is resistant to UV light and weather conditions, so it can be used both outside and inside. The chair weighs around 6.5 kg and packs flat to ship, which helps reduce transportation emissions.
