On show this week at the Milan Furniture Fair are PEGA consulting group’s remarkable prototypes made with their new and revolutionary biodegradable, recyclable and reusable material. Able to be injection molded just like standard ABS plastics, the new material is a recycled paper and polypropylene alloy that has been engineered for use in creating even the most intricate parts for consumer electronics.

Here at Inhabitat we’ve showcased a host of amazing structures made from repurposed bottles, but we’ve never a project as polished and sleek as this. The Far Eastern Group sponsored this three story “EcoARK” movable Fashion Pavilion for the 2010 Taipei International Expo. The just-finished structure features walls made entirely out of plastic bottles and it’s built to withstand earthquakes and hurricanes. These aren’t your average-joe coke bottles, however — they’re POLLI-Bricks by miniWIZ!

Taipei 101, famous for being one of the world’s tallest buildings, is set to get some major eco-upgrades in an effort to save money, reduce its impact, and gain the much coveted title of “World’s Tallest Green Building.” In 2007, the Burj Dubai surpassed Taipei 101 in terms of height, but the Taiwanese building won’t give up the fight, throwing down $1.8 million in energy efficiency upgrades, which are expected to yield $20 million annually in savings and make it the Earth’s greenest building that’s also closest to the heavens!

Nabito Architects has proposed a fascinating new pop-art inspired design for the Taipei Pop Music Center that integrates a photovoltaic facade and a wall clad in LED panels. Depending on the activities of the Pop Music Center that day, the LED media wall can broadcast news, weather, advertisements and trailers for new events. Powered completely by the sun, the LED facade isn’t a drain on the grid when it lights up at night. Although just a proposal for the Taipei Pop Music Center Competition, this music events hall would showcase not only pop musical talents, but an innovative use of renewable energy.

The Tornado Tower is a spectacular modern and unique design that is characterized by a rotating facade, which generates power from high altitude winds. The exterior of the tower is outfitted with curved fins that harness the wind to generate clean energy to power the arts center and the surrounding city as well. Pairing function and aesthetic, the roof of the tower boasts an undulating sea of pearls that meld into clouds, from which unparalleled views of the city are possible.
