Aston Martin has unveiled a new hydrogen-powered Rapide S, which is based on Aston Martin’s four-door, four-seat sports car. The hydrogen Rapide S was developed in partnership with hydrogen experts Alset Global and will become the first car of its kind to compete in an international event when it hits the track at the 41st ADAC Zurich 24 Hours of Nürburgring next month.

McLaren Automotive is set to officially unveil its newest hybrid supercar, the McLaren P1 at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next month. Although we are still a few weeks away from the show, McLaren has released details on the hybrid supercar’s drivetrain. The McLaren P1 not only packs a total 903 horsepower from its hybrid powertrain, but also has the ability to drive up to six miles in electric mode.

Following the maiden flight of their Elektra One electric plane, SolarWorld and PC-Aero have unveiled a new solar-powered version that gives the small plane twice the range of the electric version. The Elektra One Solar plane features solar cells on the wing surfaces that harness energy from the sun to provide zero-emissions flying with lower operating costs and less noise.

Driving an electric car in California will soon be a lot easier thanks to a new $120 million dollar settlement. California governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. has announced a $120 million settlement with NRG Energy Inc. that will fund a network of electric vehicle charging stations across the state. The electric vehicle charging network will include at least 200 public fast-charging stations along with an additional 10,000 plug-in units at 1,000 locations across California.

Last week Tesla officially unveiled its latest model, the Model X crossover. Four days after the automaker started taking reservations for the new electric crossover, Tesla has already received over 500 reservations (which translates into $40 million in sales), making it the fastest selling Tesla ever. When it was unveiled last Thursday at Tesla’s design studio in Southern California, traffic to teslamotors.com increased 2,800 percent, and two-thirds of all visitors were new to the website.

New Holland Agriculture‘s NH2 tractor is a new zero emissions hydrogen fuel cell vehicle made specifically for farm work. Located at La Bellotta, an energy independent farm in Italy, New Holland claims this is more than just a green farming gimmick. The NH2 is one of the first alternative fuel farm tractors of its kind, and it allegedly doubles the power and torque of a traditional tractor of the same size despite being zero emissions.

High school students at the DeLaSalle School in Kansas City, Missouri have ditched video games and Justin Bieber Youtube videos for a new interest - zero emissions transportation! They developed an amazing new vehicle with help from engineers from Bridgestone America’s Technical Center in Akron, Ohio and have just tested it on the Bridgestone Texas Proving Grounds. Their car proved to have the electric efficiency equivalent of a 300 mpg gasoline vehicle – making it the most efficient of its kind in the world.
