Global levels of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases are a threat to human and environmental health. In China, there are days when smog levels are so high that people can’t go to work or school, and there are some who say air pollution gave this 8 year-old girl cancer. If we don’t do something to change the way we produce energy, it could soon become necessary to think twice before breathing outdoor air. That’s the future imagined by designer Chiu Chih, who created a plant-based breathing device that’s part of a survival kit project dubbed “voyage on the planet”.
