Here at Inhabitat we love finding new ways to bring terrariums into our lives — so far we’ve figured out how to put them around our necks, how to hang them from Christmas Trees and we’ve even seen them combined into functioning lamps - but we’ve never sat on one before. Thankfully, Italian designer Fiore Arcangelo has come up with these clean and elegant  Ecoo Terrarium Chairs filled with plants. So if you’ve ever wanted an enclosed garden in your living room, the Ecoo is a way to have your terrarium and sit on it too.

The Ecoo Chair’s simple design is formed out of a clear polycarbonate curved cylinder, and a delicate steel red frame keeps the cylinder in place while hardy plants sit within your soil, rock and charcoal terrarium base in the chair’s lower portion. It’s easy to maintain as well – once the plant is in place, it can be nourished by pouring water into the top of the tube (or the back of the chair, depending upon how you want to look at it).

Arcangelo describes the chair as “perfectly adaptable to each type of ambiance, thanks to its elegance and clean form,” and from the pictures, we’re inclined to agree. While polycarbonate may not be our favorite thing, Arcangelo’s chair is a unique and classy way to bring greenery into your home. Through its clear structure you can watch your plants grow through the furniture, while its entire design emphasizes the notion of a living, breathing space.

You can find more information on Archangelo’s Ecoo Terrarium Chairs on his website, but no word yet on production or price.
