A four-minute mile is just a dream for most people, but not if the US Military has anything to do with it. DARPA (the Military’s research arm) is in the process of designing a jetpack that could help soldiers run faster. The jetpack sits on the back like a backpack and propels the individual forward. In testing, even with the additional weight, soldiers were able to run faster and with less energy. While the pack may make all the difference for a soldier in a combat situation, perhaps in the future it will also be available to those of us who just want a boost on our daily jog.
