In order to make it possible for people to walk around the truck’s flatbed, on which the room for two has been created, Walter had to raise the roof by a whole foot. Everything inside the room has been recycled, including the hearth, which was a snooker table in its previous life and the staircase that is a repurposed fire escape!
Every effort has been made to ensure that the room is as cozy and comfortable as any boutique stay would be. There’s a desk and a kitchen sink, and even a giant reading chair completely with an oil lamp. The room can be booked through Canopy & Stars and goes for roughly £60 per night. Apparently it comes highly recommended.

The Beer Moth in Scotland is the king of all adaptive re-use projects. Walter from the Inshriach House (half an hour’s drive outside of Inverness airport) salvaged this spunky 1956 Conmer Q4 fire truck from the Manston Fire Museum in Kent, made it roadworthy again, and then transformed it into one of the most unique hotel rooms we’ve ever seen. It features a Victorian double bed, salvaged oak parquet flooring taken from a Tudor mansion, and get this: the darn thing even has a fireplace!
