Gallery: The Best Sustainable Designs ...

Glumac will soon be releasing a retrospective packed with their amazing sustainable projects. We got a behind-the-scenes look at almost forty years of one of North America's leading MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) sustainable design firms. We asked Glumac if they have a favorite project from the collection and they noted that the 12 West Building in Portland was pretty exceptional for achieving natural ventilation in a skyscraper.

To celebrate and honor the residents of the lower 9th ward, Bill McDonough spoke about his involvement in the Make it Right project. Together with Brad Pitt, he managed the development of 150 LEED platinum-certified homes in this area destroyed by hurricane Katrina. A new home owner of a Make it Right house took the podium after McDonough to give a heart warming story of how her family was forced to flee New Orleans and survived only on the kindness of strangers. When first moving to the newly-built eco home, her family did not have enough money to purchase furniture immediately and was forced to sleep on the floor. She was concerned that the carpet would make her sick, as she has experienced several times before. Two years later, she was ecstatic to say that her low-VOC Shaw carpeting has never irritated her allergies, and she is now a proponent of clean indoor air quality.

Cascade Engineering showcased their SWIFT wind turbine, which is perfectly-sized for your home, office, or apartment building. It is extra quiet, easy to install, and will save you a ton on your electric bill. See all the specs here.

A very nice looking grab bar for sure. I have found that the illuminated grab bars from Elio to be code approved for wet locations and perfect for our seniors showers.
