This classic Acapulco Chair – a celebrated 1950’s design – has been re-imagined by The Common Project with a fantastic sustainable twist. The Common Project updated the traditional beach chair from the Mexican town of Acapulco with a seat made of recycled UV-filtered PVC woven cord, ensuring it is versatile enough to be used indoors and out!
The Acapulco chair was crafted in artisanal workshops in a region frequently visited by Hollywood stars such as Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor. After its decades of popularity began to wear thin, LA-based company The Common Project decided it was high time to give the comfortable seat a second chance and bring it back into the 21st century. The recycled chairs are available in a wide range of vibrant colors – check out the designer’s website for more information and photos!
