The Horizontal Floaterhoist Lets You Hang Your Bike from the Ceiling!
Bicycle storage can be a hassle, especially for city dwellers living in tight quarters. But tech guy Andrew Mountain has come up with an awesome storage unit that will take your bike up and out of your way — literally! Called Floaterhoist, Mountain’s design is a simple and easy contraption made from three ropes that attach to the bike’s frame that are then channeled through a ceiling-affixed pulley system. The Floaterhoist will fit frames from small to large, and the device can hold up to 55 pounds. Impressively, the ropes can even climb all the way up to 10 foot ceilings!
Unlike many vertical storage devices, the Floaterhoist ropes are self-locking so you don’t have to worry about your bike crashing down from above. Simply raise the ropes to lock them, or alternatively pull them to unlock. If you happen to lose your grip, the ropes immediately halt the bike if they are dropped. Each rope is placed in its own separate groove, so there is no chance of jamming or twisting the device during daily use.
The project only has a couple weeks left to raise funds on Kickstarter. Check the Floaterhoist out today!
