The Iri Lamp Creates a Primal, Bonfire-Like Glow Anywhere in Your Home

by , 04/29/14

Iri lamp, Notwaste, bonfire lamp, bonfire

The Iri lamp is designed to explore the connection between humankind and nature. Our first method of generating light was fire, and this lamp’s design is drawn from a bonfire’s basic shape, and produces a light similar to that of flame. Its simplicity reminds us of our connection to nature, and also gives us pause to consider the way we consume natural resources to create light and energy as comfort features. Iri was created by Notwaste, a young design company based in Monterrey, Mexico, which holds to a mantra of “not wasting”, as their branding suggests. They strive for professional responsibility, honesty, and environmental conscience, and create products that they can be proud of; those that reinforce our connection with the natural world. The lamp is created from OSB and black rubber, using both modern technology and classic, handmade artistry.
