On the outside, the Koenigsegg Regera may look just like any other supercar, but under the skin, the Swedish automaker has created what is probably one of the fastest plug-in hybrids to date. With over 1,500 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time of only 2.8 seconds, the Regera isn’t your typical hybrid.

With over 1,500 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time of only 2.8 seconds, the Koenigsegg Regera isn't your typical plug-in hybrid.

Koenigsegg previewed the Regera last year in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show and now exactly a year later, the production version is ready to take on the fastest supercars on the road. The Regera is powered by a biturbo 5.0-liter V8 engine that’s boosted by three electric motors and an 800 volt, 4.5kWh battery pack, making the Regera the world’s first 800V production car. Koenigsegg hasn’t released the final power specs, but with over 1,500 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft. of torque, the Regera can reach the insane speed of 248 mph in only 20 seconds!
