Here’s a source for gift wrap paper that is as beautiful as it is eco-conscious. Known as The Local Paper, these couture coverings are based on unique themes that are inspired by the designers’ travel, nature, and life. Each elegant wrap comes in 24×36 inch sheets that are Forestry Stewardship Council certified, made with papers that are 30% recycled post-consumer fiber. Additionally, all of the packaging used is recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable. You can purchase The Local Paper at the Contemporary Arts Museum Shop in Houston, TX or online.

Oh, very nice – the patterns are interesting but understated. I write a blog about gift wrapping (http://www.thegiftedblog.com) and am always on the lookout for interesting papers and green ideas to share. Thanks for the tip!
Metallic ink isn’t considered eco friendly. If the designers are using something special, it would be good to point that out.
Yeah, this is not uber eco, although they are trying. If you really want to be an eco-giver, head over to Loop at http://www.welcometoloop.com. They have eco-luxe wrapping paper, printed with soy inks on FSC-certified, 100% post-consumer recycled, processed chlorine free paper that was made from wind-generated energy.
Whew! that’s a green mouthful!
