We were recently in Paris for design week and as big fans of Patrick Blanc's work, we just couldn't miss a visit to the Museé du Quai Branly. Designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel, its Seine-facing facade has been covered with an impressive 650-foot-long green wall that serves as natural insulation and improves the air quality. Located just behind the Eiffel Tower, the museum´s many gardens also help creating healthy, recreational green spaces within the city.
Featuring a 40-foot high and 650-foot long stunning green wall, The Museé du Quai Branly is definetely worth a visit if you are in Paris. Designed and planted by Gilles Clément and Patrick Blanc , it is one of Blanc´s most famous vertical gardens and as a passionate for biodiversity, he designed the living tapestry to echo the cultural diversity of worldwide art inside the museum. To enter the museum, visitors have to go through swirling paths, secret gardens, trees and high grasses.
The museum´s building was masterminded by French architect Jean Nouvel and it is composed by many volumes featuring side parasols for light control into the the interiors. A green oasis in the city, the museum offers relaxing green spaces within its gardens used by tourists and locals for reading, improvised pic nics or meeting friends. A green-roofed concrete shelter is frequently used for kids´workshops and provides a good roof during bad weather days.
Exhibited under the towers´big presence, the immaculately curated ethnographic collection of indigenous art and artifecats inside comes from from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the to be showned to Paris lucky visitors.
