Reinier de Jong’s new REK coffee table adapts to any apartment size or social situation with ease. The wooden surfaces slide and transform to create an array of usable surfaces, or fold up compactly into a solid coffee table. The REK table is perfect for entertaining guests, creating an extra spot for snacks (Super Bowl party, anyone?), or even storing your favorite reading materials for curling up on the couch.
The modular coffee table fits any décor, and comes in oak, birch or beech parquet wood finishes. Folded up, the REK is a cute end table, just big enough to support your favorite sculpture or a stack of books and your remote control collection. But by sliding the interior out, the REK can quickly double in size.
Should guests drop by unexpectedly, slide the third partition out, and you have a 67 inch table ready to host a bevy of snacks, drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The partitions also extend in different directions. The REK can slide into an angular piece, with surfaces at different heights, and as little or as much as needed.
The pieces all stay in place thanks to internal rubber stoppers, which also protect the partitions from sliding too far. The rubber stops also hold the pieces in place, in case you should want to create a custom shape that fits your interior.
