Hulger wants to make the world a more sustainable place, one stylish and energy efficient bulb at a time. As the U.S. begins its phase out of incandescent bulbs, Hulger has seized the opportunity to introduce the Plumen 002, an energy-saving CFL bulb that they hope will bring "magic and poetry back to the humble light bulb." Following the success of their first designer bulb, the lighting firm just launched the Plumen 002 bulb today on Kickstarter.
In 2010, the firm unveiled the Plumen 001 as the world’s first designer energy-saving bulb and all-purpose alternative to the 60W incandescent bulb. The award-winning bulb is now sold worldwide and is included in the MoMa’s permanent art collection. After three years of development, the Plumen 002 was introduced today as a compact florescent light bulb that also boasts the warmth and output of a 30W incandescent bulb with only 25% of the energy use. Designed for ambient settings such as coffee shops, this cozy, mood-setting bulb features a sensuous sculpted geometry to add an artistic flair to everyday environments.
To help secure the expected retail price of $35, Plumen has turned to Kickstarter to reach critical mass on order volume. The crowdfunding campaign for the 7W designer bulb will run from today until February 9th, 2014.
