The sundial is a non-digital technology that has long since passed into obsolescence, but BAUER ASKEW Architects recently gave the tool renewed relevance by featuring one on the Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation's new Tennessee building. As part of a thrust to develop solar-powered technology, the company moved to Clarksville and teamed up with Austin Peay State University. Chemical Engineering students from the school will study in HSC's swanky new 20,000 square foot education center that proudly displays a massive sundial clad in energy-generating solar panels.
