New York based designer, Lynne Cimino, has designed The Twist DIY Mattress Kit, a new system that allows anyone to make their own mattress. Fabric chains are filled with organically grown buckwheat hulls – which Lynne sells at a bulk rate of $1.75 per pound – and then the stuffed modular chains are twisted together into a fabulous design. The Twist Mattress is an economical, all-natural mattress that does right by the environment. If you are unsure if a buckwheat hull mattress is for you, Lynne suggests to try out a DIY buckwheat hull mattress topper or DIY buckwheat hull pillow inserts. These items are pre-sewn and ready to be filled buckwheat hulls.
