Books are a popular artistic material in the creative world, and here at Inhabitat we’ve shared a variety of inspiring book-based works of art, including a waterfall [1], a tower [2], and a house [3]. Now, artist Thomas Ehgartner [4]┬áhas used about 8,000 reclaimed books to create this conceptual installation. Lined up across a floor, the books make up Ehgartner’s “Meaning Minus Truth Conditions” installation, which was constructed within the sculpture studios of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna [5].

Ehgartner explores concepts of information sharing and archiving, and he presents ideas surrounding fragmented communication of data flow due to linguistic limits. He discusses the “excessive demands of the ever-growing amount of new information by the media.” For more information about the work, take a look at his page on Artdoxa [4].
