TIME CURTAIN by Soner Ozenc

Soner Ozenc, Electroluminescent fabric, Time Clock, LED Prayer Mat, Designers Block, London Design Festival,

There’s been so much amazing stuff on display at the London Design Festival we’ve had a hard time covering all of it. One real stand-out of design innovation is Soner Ozenc’s electroluminescent fabric gadgetry, spotted at this year’s Designersblock by the Core77 crew. Ozenc’s Time Curtain is a transparent piece of hanging fabric that displays the time in elecroluminescent LED-style numbers.

While we’re not sure that a room partition is the most useful application of this cool technology, we can imagine some great practical applications to this innovative luminescent fabric: how about light-up window curtains and illuminating wallpaper?

Soner Ozenc is a London-based Turkish industrial designer and recent Central Saint Martins grad who made blog headlines last year with his iconoclastic LED prayer mat. The rising design star has a lot of other cool soft-gadget designs in the works, so keep an eye on him.
