TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY START TODAY! Introducing Transportation Tuesdays, Inhabitat Transportation Tuesdays, Sustainable Transportation, Eco-Travel, Green Transportation, Green Automobiles, Eco Cars, green cars, eco cycles, green air travel

Regardless of your occupation, age, or travel habits, it’s safe to say that almost all citizens of our contemporary world have the need to get from Point A to Point B. We’re not going to stop needing to get places anytime soon, so the demand for greener, cleaner transportation is great, but so far there aren’t a myriad of viable sustainable options, especially for longer distance travel. The ever-present issue of transportation shapes cities, infrastructure and home design, uses energy, and moves people. No matter how you look at it, transportation is a hugely important issue, and will play a pivotal role in the future of our society. With that in mind, Inhabitat is excited to launch of its newest weekly column, Transportation Tuesdays…

Every week (STARTING TODAY!) we’ll be bringing you a design, concept, or project that addresses issues of sustainable transportation. We’ll show you the coolest greenest vehicle designs, the best ways to get around while minimizing your carbon footprint, and projects and initiatives from around the world that are helping to make transportation more innovative, efficient and environmentally-friendly.

This is a really great idea – I’m looking forward to the discussions this will generate. Transportation is such a big part of our built environment and ideas about improving transportation vehicles, systems and uses are extremely important and interesting.

First let us ask that big fat question, “What is transportation?” Transportation is access at it’s most basic, so how can we provide access sustainably? Beyond access there are a lot of other things provided by transportation, one I like in particular is the range of sensory experience, which your sexy-lectrics highlight along with sustainability.
