Vehicles (electric and others) may improve and actually be realized if/when designers stop designing FOR themselves! Enough of the machismo. The 'tough guy' thing is so last century. Let's get on with it. Practical can be stylish.

Impractical design. Cool looking... but not an everyday 'workhorse'. Where do you put the groceries, and that super low slung front end will get destroyed on uneven roads. Back to the drawing board folks !

Once we get the range up on electric cars (which Tesla has shown is possible today), they'll take over. Current biofuels are marginally better than oil (if that), and the prospect of next-gen biofuels is significantly iffier than that of performance EVs. Hydrogen may be a possibility many years from now, but currently fuel cells with electrolyzed hydrogen (the only really sustainable kind) are just really inefficient batteries. I have faith in Aptera, ZAP, Tesla, and anyone else innovative enough to give EVs the second chance they deserve.

Orrin is right, especially on the electric Model T we need at the moment. In my opinion the new electric Model T is not going to be a meagre (and ugly) 2 seater, nor will it have a range of 150 miles (pathetic really), nor will it cost "just" 30.000 dollars. A simple 6000 dollar Daihatsu will have less environmental impact. And with a bit of persuasion, one could fit four people in it!

I agree with Zapped. I did a case study of ZAP in college and check in on them from time to time. They seem to produce interesting products but nothing that will catch the world on fire. What we need now is a new Model T and I don't see it coming from Hybrid or battery powered cars.

Maybe a company like ZAP could teach Detroit, Japan, and Germany a thing or two, but not for what I've seen so far.

To this date, Zap has not produced much more than promises of different EVs. Their fancy vehicles are all "just around the corner", like the Zap-X and now Zap Alias. I wish them all the best, but doubt I will ever see anything coming out of that company, except promotion material.
