TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY: Toyota Hi-CT

by , 04/15/08

hi-ct, toyota, hybrid, powertrain, electric, concept vehicle

Odd-looking doesn’t even begin to describe this hybrid concept vehicle, but the Toyota Hi-CT is a reflection of what a cool and enjoyable vehicle should look like, according to Toyota’s team of young Japanese and European designers. The Hi-CT evolved from the theme of “unbalanced” – the concept behind the entire design of the front-centered proportions. Wanting something that would make you stop and take a good look, Toyota has succeeded. And the young team of designers behind the Hi-CT have given this cool and enjoyable vehicle some very green aces up its sleeve.

If it’s only designed for two, what’s the story with the two headrests against the rear window, behind the front seats?

Any of us who drive the Scion Xb a/k/a “The Toaster”, will recognize its familiar front end and roof lines.

Toyota has extrapolated from the current design of its Urban Utility Vehicle (UUV) to a greener concept. This makes me very hopeful that this concept will be built. I’d love to have one.

This looks okay for a sidewalk.

Good design is one that endures time. This little guy looks like another trendy toy car.

I think most of us would like to see more sexy designs that will bring the masses aboard.

form follows function…I get it, but: too ugly for words. maybe if it had a 5th wheel hitch it could tow a “little red wagon”…the “radio flyer” tractor/trailer rig for downwardly mobile yuppies.
