U.S. House Approves Congressional Action to Protect Bangladeshi Garment Workers

The U.S. House of Representatives recently approved a defense authorization bill that will protect Bangladeshi garment workers from the same kind of tragedy that killed over one thousand workers outside of the capital Dakka. The bill will require all factories that produce military-branded garments, as well as Department of Defense-owned base retail stores or “exchanges” to meet fire and building safety codes in keeping with America’s “core values”.
