The race to create the world’s lightest bike is hot and heavy in the cycling world – and PG Bikes [4] and Munich Composites [5] just shot towards the front of the pack with their ultralight Blackbraid Bicycle. This streamlined carbon fiber cycle weighs just under 11 pounds without sacrificing durability and strength [6]. Munich Composites developed the bike’s braided carbon technology, which is as stable as steel and weighs less than aluminum. The Blackbraid is now available in a fixed-gear or a 14-speed touring model.
