It's big agriculture and the mass production of factory food that makes widespread contamination of foods even possible. Enacting new legislation and onerous regulations provide another barrier to small business and family farms. Exactly what big business wants.

It can't do anything to raise the price of meat because this bill will do nothing to affect meat or poultry processing, as all those plants and procedures fall under Dept. of Agriculture oversight.

For all its good intentions, this bill may do more to kill off even more small and organic farmers than it will to help them.

This is a good first step. Now we need to knock out the false data campaigns that the BigFood and BigAg companies have been running for decades to keep the general public confused and bewildered about nutrition and health. http://organicconnectmag.com/wp/2010/10/obesity-in-america-are-factory-farms-big-pharma-and-big-food-to-blame/
