VIDEO: All-Electric Tron Lightcycle Hits the Streets!

Hardcore TRON ^[6] fans will soon be able to fly around town on an emissions-free ^[7] Lightcycle, as Parker Brothers Choppers ^[8] just unveiled a working electric model! Last year, they introduced a gas-powered version ^[9] of the futuristic LED Lightcycle, and although the electric bike is still being tested, it will soon be street legal, satisfying eco-nerds everywhere. The Lightcycle is not recommended for heavy use, but Parker Brothers claim that it can reach a top speed of 100 mph. A 15-35 minute charge will give the bike enough juice for a 100 mile joyride - with enough power left to impress your friends with a TRON light show.

The Lightcycle comes complete with a TRON-style helmet for the rider, and with a flip of a switch the bike’s LED lights ^[10] fire up, illuminating the rims and body of the vehicle. The motorcycle is powered by a pack of lithium batteries and a 96 volt electric motor ^[11]. The Lightcycle is not recommended for heavy use, but Parker Brothers claim that it can reach a top speed of 100 mph. A 15-35 minute charge will give the bike enough juice for a 100 mile joyride – with enough power to impress your friends with the TRON light show.

Initially, Parker Brother’s Choppers offered an option to include an electric motor ^[12], but they decided to come out with a stand-alone all-electric model. Like its predecessor, the Lightcycle has 22” x 12” dual hubless wheels with custom tires ^[13], a hardened steel frame, and a carbon fiber and fiberglass body. The original gas-powered version is now going for $55,000, but price specifics for the electric model haven’t been released yet.
