VIDEO: Dude Goes Water Skiing On a Recycled Couch

You may know how to couch surf, but we bet you haven’t couch water skied yet. We spotted this inventive example of furniture reuse [1] and couldn’t help but admire the engineering prowess and skill the rider displays, all while drinking a cold one. The adaptive reuse of furniture is great; we’ve showcased a couch turned into a car [2], a bike [3], and now a water-worthy form of transportation – if it ever makes it back to shore in one piece.

The secret to the surfing couch, named “Dirty Hank”, is a wake board screwed to the plywood base and two water skis apparently duct taped [4] to either side. The design seems to offer a smooth enough ride, as the test pilot is able to enjoy a beer — until crossing the tow boat’s wake at least.
