To date, condoms are the best solution for preventing sexually transmitted diseases, but unfortunately, no one has come up with a way to feed them back into a closed natural loop. Until that happens, condoms will never be completely green. But designing for health is also green, which is why we love the Pronto Condom so much. By making the condom easier and even fun to apply, Willem van Rensburg may well be credited with saving thousands of lives and preventing unwanted pregnancies.
The condom looks like every other standard brand except that it is perforated in the middle and contains a small applicator. Once the mood has been adequately established, the user holds onto the foil wrapper with both hands and then snaps it apart before sliding the applicator down the penis. 3-4 seconds later, with no mess and no fuss, the happy couple can proceed with their business. We’ve maintained Pronto’s light-hearted approach to this revolutionary design, but in all seriousness, we’re convinced that once they roll out distributor licenses to more countries (Switzerland has already received theirs), this condom is bound to improve usage – not just in South Africa, but all over the world!
