What’s the most you’d ever pay for a sweater? $50? $150? What if it was made by a big name designer like Prada, Jill Sander, or Celine and Chloe? Last season, these and other designers sent sweaters with $1,300 price tags out into the market. We assume that with a cost like that, these sweaters must be made from magical materials, woven by the hands of celestial cherubs. As Amsterdam artists Lernert & Sander recently pointed out (by destroying them) there’s very little that sets these garments apart from the cheaper ones us “regular” people wear every day, however.
