Villa Mecklin is a Beautiful, Low-Impact Vacation Home Overlooking a Finnish Archipelago

The stunning Villa Mecklin is the perfect retreat for spending a relaxing weekend on the shore of a Finnish archipelago. Designed by Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen Architects, the home is made from local untreated wood; it is heated with a wood-burning stove; it has a sauna; and sits on a rocky terrain overlooking the Nordic landscape.
Located in the rocky island terrain of Naantali , Villa Mecklin was completed in 2008. The house’s interiors are minimal and uncluttered, offering a relaxing natural atmosphere, plenty of natural light and views of the surrounding landscape. It was designed as a weekend escape, making the most out of its views, which are best enjoyed from its large wooden terrace. And when the sun goes down it’s time to gather around the fireplace, which is cleverly hidden beneath the floorboards.
Ever faithful to tradition , the villa has its own sauna, located just meters away from the house, which is also built from untreated local wood that will age in grey shades. There is also a guest cabin, which is heated with a wood-burning stove.
