We have seen several green concept cars lately that explore the idea of automatic driving for a safer or more efficient commute. Now, Volkswagen is putting the idea to the test in the real world. At the final presentation of the EU research project HAVEit (Highly Automated Vehicles for Intelligent Transport) in the Swedish city of Bords, Executive Director of Volkswagen Group Research Professor Dr. Jürgen Leohold presented the Temporary Auto Pilot system by Volkswagen. While monitored by the driver, Volkswagen’s TAP system can drive the car up to 80 miles per hour. Volkswagen hopes the system will represent the link between today’s assistance systems and tomorrow’s fully automated green cars.

    Auto pilot it means the car is driving it self?Is not dangerous?What if it malfunction?
