There are also environmental groups who try to block wind power projects because a storch has its nest 10 miles away... It's actually a wonder we got this much wind power. Sea based wind power is also problematic as it is not allowed to build near the coast (nature reservat wattenmeer), forcing wind parks 30 miles and more off the coast, which is of course expensive because of water depth) Some info about Germany lacking in wind power effort:
