Not sure whether you want to drive an all-electric car, a hybrid or a powerful sports car? Well, now you can do it all the with Volvo‘s new diesel plug-in hybrid, a new design based on their V60 estate. The car will be on display at the upcoming Geneva motor show, and from what we can tell, it will be the first vehicle of its kind.

A touch of a button lets you switch between three modes – “pure”, “power” and “hybrid” – depending on what you’re in the mood for. If you want a longer range, the “hybrid” mode pushes the car for a range of up to 746 miles, the “power” mode allows the V60′s two engines to go from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds, and on the “pure” electric mode the car can travel up to 32 miles.

A diesel engine drives the front wheels of the car, while a 70 horsepower electric motor powered by a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery drives the rear wheels. The diesel engine can produce up to 215 horsepower, and the company claims the car only has CO2 emissions of only 49g/km because of its hybrid drive-train.

The new Volvo will go into production in 2012, but it is not clear  when it will hit U.S. markets.

Obsolete already. DCAirSolar has a design which allows Cars, Trucks, Trains, Planes, and Ships to run on SOLAR POWER! No Fossil Fuels needed! Put that in you smoke and pipe it. DCAirSolar is a division of DCA Systems, Inc., a Florida Corporation.

Soliciting Ford Motor Company to get on board.
