Everyone has been eagerly awaiting the moment OLED technology [4] will make its way into the mainstream, and we’re happy to report that the solid beginnings of this movement are finally starting to show. WAC Lighting [5] has designed the SOL chandelier [6], an OLED based masterpiece that serves as a precedent for new design concepts for OLED lighting fixtures. Created in WAC Lighting’s zero-landfill manufacturing facility, this chandelier uses OLED technology that is based off of OSRAM’s latest ORBEOS OLED panels [7]. The design moves away from reflector based LED’s and adds an additional 10-40% efficiency to lamps.
