Wal-Mart Unveils Massive Solar Array in California

We tend to have a love/hate relationship with Wal-Mart [4], but we will give them props for their latest green effort. The retailer has just installed close to 5,300 solar panels at its Apple Valley distribution center [5] in California – that’s enough to power 175 homes. The array is Wal-Mart’s largest solar installation and will provide roughly 20 percent of the power for the 1.3 million square foot distribution center, topping out around 1 megawatt. We applaud Wal-mart for the move, but we’re certainly still keeping a critical eye on them.
