Walmart Pledges to Buy $50 Billion in American-Made Products Over Next 10 Years

Walmart [5], the world’s #1 retailer, recently announced plans to increase domestic sourcing of its products. Speaking at the National Retail Federation’s [6] annual BIG Show [7] on Tuesday, Walmart CEO Bill Simon pledged to buy an additional $50 billion in US-made products over the next 10 years. The company’s detractors have long criticized Walmart for sourcing products from overseas markets, but this announcement represents a major shift in focus for the mega-retailer.
