African Scientist and Designer Team Up to Create Anti-Malaria Bodysuit That Repels Mosquitos

With summer waiting in the wings, we’re getting excited to don some short pants and sleeveless tops. Unfortunately, all that bare skin often brings with it less-than-savory mosquito bites. However, getting those suckers to bugger off doesn’t have to mean dousing yourself in chemicals or forgoing style. A Cornell University  scientist from Kenya and a Gambian designer have developed a stylish purple-and-gold hooded bodysuit  steeped with insecticides at the nano level. Designed to repel mosquitoes infected with malaria, the suit can be worn all day, and unlike spray-on repellants that disappear within hours, these nano-particles are built to stick around.
