  • WEmake‘s Beryl and Friends collection transforms tired old light fixtures into luminous modern designs. The designers rewire lamps that have come to the end of their lifespan, installing low-energy LED bulbs, and preserving the fixtures in heat-shrink jackets. Through this process the form of each lamp is reinterpreted in a way that ensures the original structure remains functional and can be revived at a later date. If you love these beautiful recycled lamps then be sure to vote for them in our Bright Ideas Lighting Design Competition!

Each of the lamps in the series takes the name of a different lady – this trope began with the first lamp, which featured the inscription ‘for Beryl’ upon its base. Each fixture comes with a photograph that records what the original light looks like underneath, giving new owners a window into the lamp’s past life.
