Hello!
I have been wanting to go to this event since I first saw it posted. I am transitioning careers into the sustainable building/consulting field and feel this event would be a great place to expose myself to all of the green career possibilities that are out there.

I am interning at the United States Green Building Council as well as for an Eco Consultancy in Los Angeles. I am looking for career opportunities and what I can do to enhance my sustainable lifestyle further. The future is sustainable building and I would love the opportunity to learn more at this event!

Over the past two years, I have been introducing myself to the eco-friendly and green lifestyle. I started small. Shopping local and purchasing organic foods with my own bags moved on to recycling and composting, and making my house greener. I still have a lot to learn which would offer a great perspective on all of the issues, materials and processes being explored at this exposition. I am also trying to get my city, Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is not known for green to become more eco-friendly. We need to know about more resources and how to impliment sustainability into our construction. The coasts are so far ahead of the midwest and south. We need to spread the message to these demographical areas.

The future of environmentally considered design lies in the development of the youth and I am closely aware of that as a senior in high school, with aspirations to do research in creating a sustainable way of life for the benefit of my community. To learn of new green technologies would be a very interesting experience for me as many designers and architects try to implement these technologie sinto new constructions. I believe this can be a good opportunity for me to expand my horizons in considering the future of my education and to also learn more about what is out there.

Hello!
Found this wonderful opportunity at the 11th hour, and thought I'd try to squeak the deadline even though my Saturday is confined to British Columbia's Pacific Standard Time, and so, perhaps a whisker's width late.

My journalistic experience was founded upon a summer internship with VICE magazine and later as a copy editor for the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada's Roots & Shoots magazine. Since then, my writing has been limited to short stories and the upkeep of a personal, and for the most part irreverent, blog. A sample of which can be found here: Whomunculus</a>.

I am currently compiling a portfolio for entrance to a landscape architecture program. Beyond that intention, my exposure to green innovations has been mostly determined by blog-lurking, a handful of urban planning classes and weekly forays to the local library: Admittedly, I am green in a many senses of the word. However, though I have taken the less-prestigious route of the autodidact, I think that this attribute would be beneficial to this specific task, for I do not carry partisanship and I find myself ever-thirsty to know more.

My interests in ecological awareness are too numerous to list with any degree of concision, but they range from the visceral phenomena of human well-being and aesthetics to the intellectual dialectics of eco-psychology, emergent properties of systems, deep ecology and liminal spaces (my favourite). In sum, I am simply in awe of how we as a species influence the way our environment influences us.

With crossed fingers and much admiration for all that you do,
Tom Corcoran

I'd love to wax poetic on this fantastic opportunity and why I really want to go, but I'll begin instead with the hard-sell—here's why I'd make a great correspondent for Inhabitat:

 1. By day I'm a principal at Big Fig Design Group [ http://www.bigfigdesigngroup.com ] and an editor at the blog (incli)NATION [http://www.incli-nation.com ]. By night I'm a writer, photographer, and filmmaker [ http://danielflahiff.net ]. My work has been exhibited at independent venues in New York, Los Angeles, and a few places internationally.
 2. Right now, I'm interested in the paradoxes in and around the production of small buildings as found in a spectrum of environments; from labor and refugee camps, to 19th-century, North American cabins, to virtual structures built for online media. [I could go on and on about this, but I'll save that for another time...]
 3. Prior to completing my MFA at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, I studied economics and business administration at Pacific Lutheran University. As a student, I was fortunate enough to receive a grant to spend a year in Florence, Italy studying the guild systems of the late Renaissance. I currently live and work in Seattle and Los Angeles.

Too much? Maybe, but why hold back when opportunity knocks? And this is one great opportunity. In addition to the headliners like Al Gore and Sarah Susanka, here are some reasons I'd love to cover West Coast Green for Inhabitat:

 1. Chris Waugh and Steve Bishop of the always-fabulous IDEO will discuss 'Demand Side Sustainability' and 'The Myth of Sisyphus...'
 2. Sarah Susanka will speak about 'Updating Plato'
 3. Jeff Oberdorfer will report on 'LEED Affordable Multi-family Housing'
 4. David Delgado will go out on a limb with [and I love this one!] 'Designing for a Mars Community'

In the end I think my passion for green design, from product to architecture to community, in addition to my cross-disciplinary perspective as designer, artist, filmmaker and writer make me an ideal choice for correspondent for Inhabitat.

And did I mention that I really want to go?

Sincerely,

Daniel

My name is Christopher Pigusch I'm currently getting my degree In Digital art and design at full sail university. I have a firm belief that art is every place we look including in buildings. These structures are not just a place where we live or work but can be a beautiful piece of artwork that can make a statement and shed there beauty on everyone who walks by them. Construction in a LEED design I think should be a must for all buildings not only does it take a step in saving are world but also in time are money two. The reason I should get this pass Is because I am passionate about green architecture being a work of art in which we live in and I can use my knowledge I get there and spread it to everyone around me and one day create buildings that will inspire great change thought the world.

I'm an aspiring student, living on the east coast, who loves to learn from other design professionals. Getting out there, networking, making your way to events, you somehow managed to finagle your way into, is the best way to be a part of the field. I may be a student, but I want to learn as much as I can to increase my own knowledge and to inform those who surround me. Attending this conference would be abosulely amazing!

OK, I am not a big shopper, But I am a big doer, big user and big specifier of all things green.

Bonded Logic -- blue jeans are green and all, but are harder to cut, and dustier than fiberglass, & consequently more labor. Vetrazzo -- handle carefully, because those slabs are so very delicate and expensive. Quartz might be more competitive. Low VOC paints -- buyer beware, as they might not apply well. Balancing the real world with the ideal -- that's the perspective I'll bring.

Last year I supplied you with a bunch of locally-grown community garden dahlias to brighten your presence at West Coast Green. This year, I'd be honored to provide the coverage your readers deserve, stylishly of course!

Dear Inhabitat Team,

I co-founded www.theconscioussnob.com, an online magazine focused on a sustainable lifestyle for young women. The Conscious Snob likes to shop with a purpose, eat for her health, read for continuous growth, and contribute ideas and efforts to the local community in order to maintain a certain sustainability and integrity in a culture that slowly lacks such elements. The Conscious Snob is opinionated and ambitious, talented and observant, courageous and thoughtful.

We would love to have the opportunity to have press presence at this event and share with our readers and future visitors a detailed report of our experience, photos and more. Please consider us.

Regards,

Hi,

I am a project manager at a construction firm in New York City. Our firm is constantly trying to stay on top of green perspectives and environmentally fit solutions for building, especially since New York is rapidly moving towards becoming more sustainable. Writing and architectural photography are two things that help me stay in touch with what is going on elsewhere in the world, whether it's for our press releases, posting on blogs, or for my own enjoyment!

I'd be thrilled to go to California to learn about the most innovative green solutions, and even more excited to bring the knowledge that I gain back to New York to share with everyone!

Thanks so much!

I started in construction in 1976, and then moved into greenbuilding in 1995. I graduated from Seattle Central Community College's 'sustainable building advisor' program in 2006. Since then I have lived in San Juan County (WA) and have authored numerous proposals to encourage our county to become greener. I love to write - my main reward has been writing for the Islands Weekly - 27 published articles to date. At the moment I am helping a local non-profit charity (well two actually) get a sophisticated web presence. Later this year I will be teaching the local builder's association greenbuilding.

Since then I have lived in San Juan County (WA) and have authored numerous proposals to encourage our county to become greener. I love to write – my main reward has been writing for the Islands Weekly – 27 published articles to date. At the moment I am helping a local non-profit charity (well two actually) get a sophisticated web presence. Later this year I will be teaching the local builder’s association greenbuilding.

I'm a college professor, an entertainment writer for Capitol Weekly (CA's political newspaper), I carry a Leica, and I'm currently designing my own house to be built on a triangular lot that's less than 1,000 sq.ft., here in Sacramento. (I'm familiar with most of the modular companies but stick construction is a steal at the moment.) That seems like a good mix :-)

As the Associate Editor at Wend Magazine, I am constantly writing about everything green, from design to the outdoors. Although our magazine mainly focuses on environmentalism from an outdoor enthusiast's perspective, I do a lot of research regarding green building and design... in fact I've been known to link to many a post from the Inhabitat blog! Living in Portland makes me love green design all the more. On top of it all, I love my digital SLR and know how to use it. If you pick me you'll get the eye of an editor and the passion of a green design obsessed 20-something that still believes we can make positive change for our environment.
