WhiteCrate, the UK-based design firm that specializes in shipping container conversions is at it again, and this time they've adapted shipping containers to create a cozy and festive bar in London. Hot on the heels of creating DockBar at Greater Manchester’s MediaCity UK, the team at WhiteCrate built DockLounge with their reused containers, creating a wonderful space to spend a cold winter’s evening getting toasty in front of the log fire. Surrounded by the glass facades at the dock side in MediaCity, the new bar looks like a cheery place to celebrate the season.
DockLounge is made-up of two 40-foot WhiteCrate containers and one Hi-cube 40-foot WhiteCrate container that were joined together after the sides were removed to form a spacious room. The site can host around 80 guests, all milling around a central log burner. The interiors were decorated throughout by Fluid bars, who made the space look a bit like a warm ski-lodge.
After their previous ideas for exhibition spaces and their part in the recent unveiling of Nissan LEAF, the designers at WhiteCircle have shown just how much capacity their converted crates have.
