Dreamers of reality make the world evolve and possibly revolve too! When an idea is valid enough, it will draw creative people to it and make it real! What about Skype, let's say 50 years ago? It was a concept for SF paperbacks only, and now… Please, think about that before shooting down any creative designer (which I'm not!! ;-))

Now someone needs to come up with a way to make hydrogen cheaply and efficiently - making hydrogen with current technology uses more energy than the hydrogen it produces will produce. It's the Willy Wonka Golden Ticket to the planet's future. On a minor point - I didn't think the Godwit was Australian - they're Kiwi and Siberian too - one of the great winged wanderers. As a kid in New Zealand I used to watch them take off in huge numbers for daily training flights out to sea, preparing for their annual trip to Siberia.

Indeed. Very nice looking airplane, looks like something from a comic book.

The science behind it apparently comes from a comic book too...

very cool looking, but the wings sit to low to the ground, a tiny gust of wind on landing would make it cartwheeling fireball on the runway.
I've never heard of those engines...do they exist? They seem made up...

Why not label stories like this as a design study - since it's obvious that there's no real science involved.
