I study new mediums and technology and how they relate to our society. As a Media Artist and a student, I'm fascinated by what solutions we invent and think up to help improve our lives (though they more often than not make life more frustrating). I'd like to attend this conference to not only explore whats coming, but to also try to develop a dialogue with other conference attendees about the shape of things to come further past the technologies being presented.

I would love to go to the ETech conference, as a student of New Media Art at San Jose State and a future architect and futurist I'm always looking for the bleeding edge of development. The future holds a great many difficulties and challenges for us. And while technology holds great promise in solving these problems, it also presents its own difficulties. As a artist and a futurist, I see the future and future tech as compelling, frightening, and beautiful landscape just waiting to be painted. I'm hoping to gain some insight of the shape of things by attending this conference.

Decades ago, in my naivety, I thought, "why not take a whole bunch of PV's and use them to make more PV's until you had made enough for everyone?" Back then, I was introduced to the Savonius Wind Mill and I still get thrills just thinking of the beauty and potential of the design. I still dream of a day of energy independence with minimal carbon footprints and would like to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Attending the show would help guide me in the right direction.

I teach lighting and materials to interior design students. Technology is transforming lighting and the materials used for interiors. My students benefit when I learn about new technologies and have the people and companies to contact for classroom support.
Lighting will utterly transform when incandescent lamps are phased out. The replacements are all technology products, fluorescent, metal halide, plasma, induction, and LED.

Having been the only one to receive a similar gift in exchange for my being Forbes Magazine's "challenger" to their presenters at the Forbes "Genius+Energy" Conference, I think I would qualify. Having developed hybrid passive solar systems 3 decades ago and installed them around the world including the then largest in the U.S.; having patents and patents pending on a zero-net energy construction system made primarily from waste that a PATH director described as the first major innovation in housing since 1833 (stick framing); at the request of DOE's Director of Building America program, having developed a roof/wall system that has the option of integrating the 5 solar types yet is projected to cost the same as a conventional residential roof and less than half that of a commercial/industrial roof; and having given seminars and workshops on energy and affordable housing internationally; plus a lot more; I believe I should be considered for the pass to E-Tech. Thanks Jim

I would love to go to E-Tech because I recently moved to the bay area and started Kicker Studio, a product design company that specializes in emerging technologies. E-Tech would be an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in everything from materials & sensors to techniques & tools for using our powers for good. And whereas most conferences are a chance to chat with friends outside of the sessions, at this one everyone I'd skip with is giving a really interesting talk that I really want to see!

Thanks,
Jennifer

I'm starting a business around energy use in the home and garden utilizing modern technology for monitoring and conservation. There's nothing like an overload of information to get the juices flowing :)

I have been interested in how technology can help make the world a better place as opposed to making our lives easier. This would be a wonderful opportunity to encourage those ideas.
