I use the “seafood watch” app when ever I go to the grocery store to pick out what fish will have the least impact.
I constantly use google maps so I don’t waste gas driving aimlessly around.
I have the greenpeace and treehugger app so that I am up to date with the latest issues so I know how to choose future decisions.

I love the notes app b/c it helps me keep track of the things I need to do, appts I need to keep, shopping lists, etc. It saves me the trouble of constantly looking for those little pieces of paper you jot notes onto and can never actually end up finding in time when you need them!!!

My favorite app is the map. It sounds boring, but it’s really helpful! You do not need to shuffle through piles of maps. (precious trees!) It is quick and simple to find your way, there is a blue dot that shows where you are for even faster map reading, and even if you don’t know how to read a map well, the map app is easy!

My favorite is the maps. I do not need to carry around 10 different maps trying to figure out where to go. It’s convenient, and it saves the environment!

iMapMyRun is great for tracking cycling and running. You can even see your green stats- dollars in gas saved, gallons saved, CO2 reductions.

My favorite app is a combination: reQall now connects directly to my other favorite app Evernote. Not only does reQall eliminate the thousands of pieces of scrap paper I’d use for to-do notes, shopping lists, and reminders, but it searches my Evernote for related items – articles, pictures of items I want, maps, anything I want to remember. Cuts way down on my paper use and keeps me organized so I don’t use as much gas and time running forgotten errands. I love my iPhone and my Evernote/reQall combo.

Love my green calculator app. Since I have it, I’ve been able to make footprint calculations for every activity of the day that I can share with my students that do not have iPhones. It’s easy and practical.

Mine would most definitely have to be The New York Times. I love reading the newspaper and before I would always buy one, but now I just read it for free on the go, online! I love my iPhone!

While I find the Maps app saves a ton of paper (as a lot of other people do as well), I find that the Brushes app satisfies my need to draw and incessentantly doodle while saving paper in my notebook and sketchbook. The app is actually increasing my menial drawing/painting skills with it’s deep tool set. It’s MS Paint x100! This app is all about going green and a lifestyle upgrade.

There’s tons of ways for using the iPhone (and iPod Touch!) for living greener, two things I use a lot are the Google Maps (so I don’t have to print directions out), and the calendar feature so I don’t have to buy an agenda every year. However, my favorite app is LOCAVORE. Locavore gives you a list of produce in season week by week, it helps you locate farmer’s markets and restaurants that serve local food and even lets you see how far away any specific produce was grown. Oh, and it can be used when traveling to keep on eating locally wherever you go!

I think combination of the the notes, amps and camera probably have the biggest imact on my carbon footprint in term of resources saved but I do love the Locavore app for myself- it keeps me in the know about what produce is in season and how to find locally produced sources. For those in my life that are less green, I am always pushing the free app ‘Go Green’. It has a new green tip every time you open it. It really makes people think about their carbon footprint, even if they don’t follow through with every tip. Anyway to raise awareness is a plus!!
