Sad to see the long, hot days of summer come to an end? Well, no need to fret - Seattle-based design studio GoCstudio has created Wa_ Sauna, a floating sauna that keeps you hot and sweaty year round. Designed by the studio's founders Jon Gentry and Aimée O'Carroll, Wa_Sauna is a floating refuge that is meant to bring serenity and peace to water lovers everywhere. Wa_Sauna is the ultimate way to relax while appreciating the beautiful Pacific Northwest landscape from a unique perspective.
Wa_sauna is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for production. The prototype for the design includes a large wooden platform and a wood-fired sauna. A rear ladder leads from the platform to the roof and a “cool down hatch” lets overheated users open the sauna’s back door and plunge directly into the refreshing water. The structure is designed to be easily transported by a standard trailer and launched into any still body of water.
Since the start of the Wa_Sauna Kickstarter campaign, the GoCstudio design duo have been developing the project step by step, including consulting with engineers and formulating a timeline for fabrication. As the campaign gains momentum, the designers have estimated a construction date of spring, 2015. Currently almost $4,000 of the $43,000 goal has been met.
