Gallery: World’s First Wastewater Hydrogen Fuel Plant Opens Today In Or...


Air Products, one of the leaders in hydrogen fueling technology, have just announced the official opening of the world’s first fuel cell and hydrogen energy station in Orange County, California. Inaugurated today, the station is unlike any other built before, in that it draws from a nearby wastewater plant to not only sustain itself, but to also power hydrogen vehicles.

    The best thing about this is that it further helps to clean up industry that produces or processes waste into a useable clean source of energy that goes back into running the plant and powers some vehicles. The fact that this can be used by waste treatment, brewery and landfills to create a closed system is something I hope big companies and facilities will begin to implement on their sites.

    I am still not sure hydrogen cars are going to be more available or as plentiful as electric or hybrid cars in the near future but this plant shows that it can be a part of our future.
